We’ll resist attempts to re-include pension funds in DDE – Labour

Organised Labour has served notice it will resist attempts to go contrary to the agreement to exempt pension funds from the Domestic Debt Exchange programme.
Organised Labour issued this warning in a press release dated Wednesday, February 1, 2023, and jointly signed by the General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Dr Anthony Yaw Baah; Mr Isaac Bampo Addo, President of FORUM; and Mr Ken Koomson, Deputy Secretary General of Ghana Federation of Labour.
The release said: “Per the agreement between the Government of Ghana on Thursday, December 22, 2022, with the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Employment and Labour Relations executing same on behalf of Organised Labour, paragraph 1 as follows: ‘Government has decided to grant exemption to all pension fund in the DDE programme'.
“Organised Labour hereby reiterates that this position is final as far as the involvement of pension funds in the DDEP is concerned.
“By this, Organised Labour and all our pension schemes are not participating in any DDE programme as per the aforementioned exemption from the government.”
