Gov’t begins evacuating Ghanaians from conflict inflicted Sudan
The government of Ghana has started evacuating Ghanaian nationals from Sudan following deadly conflict between Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, resulting in avoidable casualties.
According to Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, a number of Ghanaian students have been affected by the conflict at the epicenter of Khartoum, the capital.
However, Ghana’s Embassy in Cairo, Egypt which has concurrent accreditation to the Sudan is coordinating the evacuation of Ghanaians and plans are underway to secure their safe passage to Ethiopia.
The government has assured families and friends of Ghanaians in Sudan that every effort is being made to ensure the safety of their loved ones until their arrival in Ghana.
