The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has announced a strict enforcement of its dress code policy beginning July 1, 2025, in a move aimed at curbing what it describes as “indecent dressing” on campus, especially during lectures.

In a memo issued by the Office of the Dean of Students on June 30, 2025, management expressed concern over the growing trend of inappropriate attire among students and emphasised that the University’s dress code policy remains unchanged and will be strictly enforced going forward.

According to the memo, a special task force will be stationed at strategic points across campus to monitor compliance and ensure that students adhere to the guidelines outlined in the 2018 Undergraduate Students’ Handbook.

The memo specifically warned students that they would not be allowed into lecture halls if they appeared in certain forms of attire, including unkempt hair, shorts, bathroom slippers, tracksuits, anklets, and nose rings, among others.

“Students are reminded that the University policy has not changed, and the dress code policy will be strictly adhered to,” the memo stated.
