Project C.U.R.E partners with Ghana Medical Trust Fund to boost NCD response
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has announced a new partnership with Project C.U.R.E., described as the world’s largest distributor of donated medical supplies serving more than 135 countries.
The collaboration was marked by the arrival of Emily Helen Davidson, an official assessor from Project C.U.R.E., who is in Ghana on a 10-day working visit.
During the visit, the Project C.U.R.E. team will work closely with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund team, led by Norbert Kipo, to conduct detailed needs assessments across selected teaching and referral hospitals.
The exercise will involve engagements with hospital leadership to evaluate infrastructure, staffing levels, patient volumes and critical equipment gaps.
Officials say the assessments are aimed at ensuring that all donated medical supplies and equipment are tailored to Ghana’s specific healthcare requirements.
The findings from the assessments are expected to inform customised plans for the delivery of essential diagnostic equipment and consumables to support the country’s fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cancer, cardiovascular conditions and other chronic illnesses.
Officials described the engagement as a significant step in strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system, emphasising that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving access to quality medical care nationwide.
