Dr. Bryan Acheampong mourns victims of helicopter crash

Former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of eight individuals in the Z-9 helicopter crash on Wednesday, 6th August 2025, describing the incident as a profound national loss.
In a statement issued on the day of the tragedy, Dr. Acheampong honoured the memory of:
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate
Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
Flying Officer Twum Ampadu
Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
“Their sudden passing is a profound loss, not only to our government, but to the soul of our nation,” Dr. Acheampong said.
He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues, and all Ghanaians mourning the loss, adding a spiritual tribute: “May their souls rest in peace.”
The crash, which claimed the lives of top government officials and military officers, has been described as one of the most devastating aviation disasters in recent years.
