KOD's homecoming to Elmina sparks unprecedented support
In a powerful display of political momentum and unity, the much-awaited Central Region Caravan Tour made a vibrant start in Elmina, KEEA Constituency.
The national tour, set to engage with 5,000 communities across the country has taken off, with Kwame Owusu Danso (KOD), Vice Presidential Candidate of the Movement for Change/Afrafranto Alliance, leading the Central Region Tour.
His return to his hometown was met with an overwhelming show of affection and excitement from the locals.
Despite a late start, the residents of Elmina remained steadfast, eagerly waiting for hours to welcome their son and brother.
Their patience was met with an energetic celebration.
Although the Chief of Elmina was absent, the delegation was warmly received by Nana Adjoa Kodua I, Queen Mother of Bantuma.
The streets came alive with vibrant drumming, singing, and dancing as KOD was hailed as a returning hero. Hundreds lined the roads, chanting praises as they accompanied him and the caravan to the palace, marking a key moment in Central Region's political history.
At the palace, KOD humbly sought the blessings of his people, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering support.
He acknowledged that the visit was long overdue following his recent appointment as the Vice Presidential candidate to Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change.
“The moment I was selected as Vice President, I knew I had to come home to show my appreciation and seek your prayers for the journey ahead,” he said, stirring deep emotions among the crowd.
KOD seized the moment to emphasize the urgent need for an end to the longstanding dominance of the NPP and NDC, which he argued had hindered Ghana's progress since the Fourth Republic began.
“For over three decades, these two parties have let us down.
Now is the time for true transformational leadership.
That’s why Mr. Alan Kyerematen and I are here—to drive the change Ghana desperately needs,” he declared to resounding applause.
The Queen Mother and the elders listened closely as KOD outlined his plans for economic empowerment and social programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people in Elmina.
He promised that his connection to his hometown would remain central to his political mission, assuring them that he would work tirelessly for the region's development if elected as Vice President.
In her remarks, the Queen Mother warmly welcomed KOD back to his roots, offering her unwavering support. “We are proud of you, Kwame.
With you and Alan Kyerematen, we are confident Ghana will experience the change it needs,” she said, while reminding KOD to stay humble, focused, and steer clear of divisive politics, urging him to maintain the values of respect and dignity.
The caravan’s next stop was Abirem, where Nana Terpor V, Paramount Chief of the Abirem Traditional Area, received KOD with great enthusiasm.
The Chief, visibly excited by KOD's message, urged him and his team to carry their message directly to the grassroots, where the people would embrace it most.
He also extended a personal invitation to KOD for their upcoming festival in November, solidifying his endorsement of the Movement’s cause.
