Speaker apologizes to Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, has issued an apology to Klottey Korle MP, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, and her family over the “daughter of a murderer” remark directed at her during a recent parliamentary session.
His apology was also extended to the Anlo Traditional Council in the Volta Region, which had expressed outrage over the incident and demanded swift action.
“In light of this incident, I extend my deepest apologies to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, former First Lady and widow of our late industrious President, the family, the chiefs, and all the good people of Anlo Dukor and Anlo land,” Speaker Bagbin stated on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday.
Expressing further regret, he added, “It is a sad situation when one serving their country must endure such indignity.”
The apology follows an incident on February 4, 2025, when an unidentified MP was heard making an offensive remark during a parliamentary session
