Ghana's e-Visa system has received nearly 1,500 applications from 78 countries within a month of its launch, Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has disclosed.

Speaking during Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's visit to the Ministry of the Interior, the minister said the e-Visa platform was launched by President John Dramani Mahama on May 25 as part of efforts to digitalise government services.

According to him, the system has already attracted close to 1,500 applicants seeking to travel to Ghana.

"As we speak, we now have the e-Visa. That was graciously launched by His Excellency the President on the 25th of May, which, in just one month, we were able to get almost close to 1,500 applicants applying to come to our country from 78 countries across the globe," he said.

The minister said the initiative forms part of the ministry's broader digitalisation agenda aimed at improving service delivery and reducing paperwork across its agencies.
