Stadium assault: Allotey pleads not guilty
World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Super Lightweight Champion, Patrick Allotey, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault of football fan Michael Siaw during the Hearts of Oak versus Asante Kotoko Ghana Premier League fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium last month.
Following a brief misunderstanding, Patrick Allotey was captured in a viral video beating up Michael Siaw who sustained a cut under his left eye and had to be stitched.
During his first appearance in court on Monday, 10 February 2020, the Ghanaian boxer was granted a bail of GHS100,000 with three sureties, two of whom should be public servants and deposit his passport at the court registry.
Allotey must also report to the police every Wednesday.
The case was adjourned to 25 February 2020.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has banned him for six months as a result of misconduct after facing the Disciplinary Committee last Wednesday.
