Reappointment: APN congratulates AfCFTA Secretary General

The Africa Prosperity Network (APN) has congratulated the Secretary General of African Continental Free Trade Area Secretary General, Wamkele Mene on his reappointment.
Mr Mene was re-elected for another four-year term at the African Union’s 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The reappointed Secretary General previously served as the Head of Mission to the World Trade Organisation for South Africa. He also chaired the Committee on International Trade in Financial Services at the World Trade Organisations.
According to the African CEO Forum, before his election as the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), he served as the Chief Director for the Africa Economic Relations at the Department of Trade and Industry of South Africa.
In his role as the Chief Director, he was South Africa’s chief trade negotiator in the AfCFTA and Tripartite FTA negotiations.
During his tenure as chief negotiator, South Africa ratified both the AfCFTA and Tripartite FTAs agreements.
APN in it’s congratulatory message stated 20th February 2024 said his dedication and commitment towards a prosperous Africa is truly commendable.
