Ghana has reaffirmed its position as a leading destination for sustainable mining investment and a key driver of mineral policy development in Africa at the 2026 Invest in Africa Mining Indaba held in Cape Town, South Africa.

The country’s participation was led by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, who headed a high-powered delegation comprising leaders of major mining and geological institutions.

The delegation included Mr. Isaac Tandoh of the Minerals Commission, Ms. Ama Mawusi Mawuenyefia of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), Dr. Prosper Akaba of the Ghana Geological Survey Authority, and Mr. Williams Okofo-Dateh of the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC).

Through a series of high-level bilateral meetings and stakeholder engagements, Ghana presented a coordinated national strategy focused on sustainable resource management, domestic value addition and strengthened continental collaboration.

Officials highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing regulatory certainty, promoting responsible mining practices and expanding local participation across the mining value chain.

The delegation also engaged international investors and development partners to explore opportunities for partnerships that support industrialisation and job creation.

The Minister emphasised Ghana’s commitment to leveraging its mineral wealth to drive economic transformation while ensuring environmental sustainability and community development.

The annual Mining Indaba brings together governments, investors, industry leaders and policymakers from across the globe to discuss investment opportunities and the future of Africa’s mining sector.
