GNFS brings Ashaiman Golf City warehouse fire under control, saves adjoining facilities
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained a warehouse fire that broke out at the Ghana Water Company Central Stores at Ashaiman Golf City in the early hours of Monday, January 19, 2026.
According to the GNFS, the Service received a distress call at 12:18 a.m. and fire crews arrived at the scene just seven minutes later, at 12:25 a.m.
Reinforcements were subsequently deployed from the Tema Metro and Industrial Area Fire Stations to support the operation.
Firefighters managed to confine the blaze at 1:43 a.m., brought it under control by 3:22 a.m., and fully extinguished it at 3:50 a.m.
The fire caused extensive damage to production materials and machine parts stored in Warehouse “D”.
However, the swift intervention of the fire crews prevented the flames from spreading further, successfully salvaging six workers’ quarters as well as two adjoining warehouses, identified as Warehouses “B” and “C.”
No injuries or fatalities were recorded during the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The initial response team was led by Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO I) Samuel Darko, with overall operational supervision provided by Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO II) Patrick Sallah, the Tema Regional Fire Officer.
He was supported by DO II Fiifi Oppong, Regional Operations Officer, and DO II Ebenezer Yenzu, Municipal Fire Officer for Tema Metro.
The GNFS has reiterated its commitment to rapid response and fire safety, urging institutions and businesses to adhere strictly to fire prevention measures to avert similar incidents.
