V/R: Fire destroys Nogora Pub and shops near Ho Technical University

A devastating fire broke out on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Nogora Junction, near Ho Technical University, destroying the popular Nogora Pub along with five other shops.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
Eyewitness Mr. Franklin, a bread baker whose shop is located directly opposite the pub, said they first noticed thick smoke in the sky without realising it was a fire outbreak.
Another witness, Mathew Kudahe, a keke driver, recounted that he was transporting passengers from Ho township to the university when he came upon the incident.
While he acknowledged that Ghana National Fire Service officers arrived promptly, he claimed it took about 30 minutes before firefighting efforts began.
He urged authorities to invest in better equipment and address challenges facing the fire service to ensure quicker responses in future emergencies.
A boutique owner, visibly distressed, explained that she had recently taken out a loan to stock her shop, only for all her goods to be consumed by the flames.
Speaking to Class News, Ho Municipal Fire Station Officer DOII Seth Tay confirmed receiving a call about the fire at 5:50 pm. He said firefighters responded swiftly to the scene and found six containers engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the blaze, it took approximately two hours to bring it under control.
He appealed to the public to remain calm and allow fire crews to carry out their work when they arrive at emergency scenes.
