Agyapadie: Disregard NDC’s big political lies-Owusu Bempah

Mr Ernest Kofi Owusu Bempah, Deputy Director of Communications for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has launched a scathing critique against the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of resorting to dishonest tactics ahead of the 2024 elections.

Drawing on a notorious quote by Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, Mr Bempah argued that the NDC has adopted a strategy of repeating falsehoods to manipulate public perception.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it,” Bempah quoted Goebbels, likening this approach to the NDC’s current political manoeuvres.

Central to his critique is the controversial “Agyapadie” document, a 38-page publication featuring prominent figures such as the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, President Nana Akufo-Addo, and his late father.

The document, which lacks an identified author, has been dismissed by the Okyenhene as a fabrication designed to incite hatred against the Ofori Panin household and Okyeman.

Mr Bempah claimed that the NDC, led by flagbearer John Mahama, is using the document as a tool to mislead the Ghanaian public.

Mr Bempah made these remarks in a statement released on Monday, August 5, 2024

He accused Mr Mahama of disregarding democratic norms and engaging in a dangerous brand of politics.

“Such a highly dishonourable, dangerous man and the NDC looks more like a personality cult than a political party,” Bempah remarked.

Furthermore, Bempah suggested that key NDC figures, including Omane Boamah, Okudzeto Ablakwa, Abraham Amaliba, and Edudzi Tamakloe, might be behind the creation of the Agyapadie document.

He criticized the NDC for its lack of policy proposals and campaign messages, describing the party as being at its lowest political point.

“The NDC leaders and supporters are at perhaps their lowest point politically.

They have reached a crisis point as the party is now led by donkeys.

A party of sycophants and low-grade activists,” Mr Bempah stated.

He contended that the NDC has become more focused on dishonest tactics than on substantive programmes and policies.

With the 2024 elections just over three months away, Bempah condemned the NDC's approach, suggesting it would ultimately contribute to their political downfall.

“Mahama and the NDC have done more than enough to their own political obituary,” he concluded.
