Vetting chaos: Atebubu Amanten MP endorses Speaker's decision to suspend 4 MPs

The Member of Parliament for Atebubu Amanten Constituency in the Bono East Region, Sanja Nanja, has strongly condemned the chaotic scenes that unfolded during the vetting of ministerial nominees in Ghana’s 9th Parliament.
Nanja described the conduct of some committee members as disgraceful and detrimental to Ghana’s democratic principles.
He stressed that such behaviours undermine the integrity of the state and erode public trust in leadership.
“I decry the destruction and disorderly conduct displayed during the vetting process as unacceptable and condemn it in the strongest terms,” the legislator asserted.
According to him, Members of Parliament should feel ashamed, as the vetting process is meant to assess competence, integrity, and experience in a transparent manner that safeguards national interests and strengthens public confidence in governance.
However, he lamented that the events of January 30 did not reflect these ideals.
Following the incident, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin took the strict decision to suspend four Members of Parliament.
Sanja Nanja fully endorsed this move, stating that the Speaker acted appropriately in restoring order and upholding parliamentary decorum.
He spoke in an exclusive interview with Apiah-Kubi on Fabea FM's "Me Man Ho Dadwen."
