NPA intensifies nationwide campaign against illicit fuel trade

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has stepped up its nationwide campaign to clamp down on illicit fuel trading, warning individuals and businesses engaged in such practices to desist or face the full rigours of the law.
The Authority emphasised that all operators in the downstream petroleum industry must comply with established regulatory requirements in order to ensure fairness, safety, and efficiency within the sector.
According to the NPA, the campaign forms part of broader efforts to sanitise the petroleum industry, protect consumers, and safeguard government revenue from leakages caused by unauthorised fuel transactions.
Officials noted that the Authority remains committed to working with security agencies and other stakeholders to curb the menace of illegal fuel trading, which poses economic and safety risks.
The NPA has, therefore, urged all industry players to adhere strictly to the law and cooperate with regulators to promote transparency and stability in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
